About Matthew.
Matthew made his screen debut at age seven in Disney's The Three Lives of Thomasina (1964). That same year, he and Thomasina co-star Karen Dotrice were hired to play Michael and Jane, the children of George Banks (David Tomlinson), who gets more than he bargained for when he hires a nanny named Mary Poppins. Disney's live-action/animated film adaptation of the Mary Poppins book series by P. L. Travers won five Academy Awards and made its stars world-famous.

Matthew and Karen would pair up again in The Gnome-Mobile (1967) as the grandchildren of a rich lumber mogul (Walter Brennan) who stumble across a gnome forest and are asked to help keep the gnomes from dying off.

Just found out......

After watching Mary Poppins again after many years with my Daughter, I researched the case online. I am very sad to find out the adorable little boy, Michael Banks - Matthew Garbur died 6 years before I was even born. Very sad and a life cut far too soon! RIP Matthew

If tears could build a stairway, and memories a lane,
I'd walk up to heaven, and bring you home again.

What could you have been

I feel that I have to write a comment as I didn't know - as I am sure a lot of people don't - that Matthew had died. He had an amazing energy on screen and I wonder what he would have become? What an incredible legacy to leave behind him.
